I've owned the red lantern for years. It is a kerosene lantern that can be used if we lose power (esp. during hurricane season). I bought the twig star at a online craft store (Factory Direct Craft) and the small red vase holding the flag is part of my colored glass collection.
I made the bunting from some patriotic cupcake liners. I love bunting and this was super easy to make. I actually saw a version of this on Pinterest (for a birthday party) and knew that I had some red, white and blue liners hidden somewhere in the back of my pantry. I've had them for years and, as usual, wouldn't get rid of them thinking I might need them one day. I never would have guessed that it would be for bunting.
To make this bunting, I simply flattened out each liner and folded it in half. I put them (folded) under a heavy book overnight to make sure they were flat and straight. The next day, I draped them over a long piece of twine, end to end. Simple.
I envision a big number 4 in there somewhere but I haven't found the right one yet. I see a shopping trip in my future, ha.
In the middle of dragging out things for this shelf, I found this.
So now I'm on to another shelf theme...."vintage summer". I love it. I'll be working on that one and will post pictures when I'm done. I need to find a few more vintagey things. More reason to go shopping!
