I have had a crush on vintage hankies since I saw this picture of a vintage hankie valence.
It seems like years ago that I first saw it but, today, I found it pinned and repinned on Pinterest. Making a valence like that is on my bucket list. I must have one!
I thought about that picture over the weekend when my mom brought me two beautiful hankies that were my grandmothers.
Sorry about the flash reflection in both pictures. I put them behind glass before I thought about taking pictures.
The one on the left has daises and violets on a white background. I just love it! The one on the right has an embroidered flower in one corner in my favorite color...pink :)
I went to Pinterest to get some ideas for making things out of vintage hankies. As usual, I was overwhelmed with the wonderful projects that have been done with my new obsession. Here's a little sample of what I found.
I already showed you the valence. How about some curtains?
Or some Barbie clothes. Now who doesn't need those?
Next time you throw a dinner party, pull out those vintage hankies. Then, whip up one of these beauties.

Or make some pillows or a quilt.
My favorite is bunting made from vintage hankies...ahhh, be still my heart.
Hopefully, I will be posting pictures of my new vintage hankie project soon. But, first, I've got some etsy shopping to do. Does anyone know of an etsy shop that sells vintage hankies?
So perfect... I have been wanting to do this in my daughters room too but I need a few more hankies... Let me know if you find a good shop! Happy Monday :)
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute (the projects) I adore that valance. I can't wait to see what you make! I see hankies at our local antique shop sometimes. Good luck finding some!
ReplyDeleteI see them at antique shops around here sometimes. I love these projects you posted!

I love these projects - especially the Barbie doll clothes and most of all, the tablecloth with the hankie skirting. I'm having a Mothers Day tea - wouldn't they be perfect?
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage hankie valance and the tablecloth. They are so pretty. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteShasta, I think you should pop on over to my blog! *wink wink*
