Remember when I posted about "the old road"? Well the large white azalea bush lines one side of the old road behind my house. It was planted years ago by my Mom. There is a large pink Formosa azalea to the left of the white one but the blooms have already gone. It was gorgeous! Thanks, Mom, for the great view :)
The beautiful hot pink color of Formosa and the elegant white blooms are my favorite.
I created a little "copycat" using them to get ready for Debbiedoo's Spring copycat challenge. It kicks off a week of Spring-tacular projects. (click picture below for details).
I decided to copy this. It's from the Better Homes and Garden's website (here).

I did my floral centerpiece with azaleas instead of roses (although I'm a sucker for pink roses).
I stated with a clear glass container (hurricane?) that I got at Wal- Mart for $1. I wrapped a wide Spring green ribbon (from my stash) around it and filled it 1/4" full with water. Then I put a few short stemmed pink Formosa azalea blooms inside the glass container; low enough that the cut end of the stems were in the water and the tops of the flowers were below the rim of the container.
I decided to add a few longer stemmed white azaleas to it so I could have both of my favorite azalea flowers in one place :)
Ahhh....bringing a little bit of Spring inside. And it only cost me $1. Lovely.
