Five Burgers for Dad

Happy Father's Day weekend!  I recently discovered the mobile version of Pinterest and my pinning addiction has grown to a new level.  I now have a better appreciation for my hand-me-down iphone.

Recently, I spent some time on Pinterest looking for Father's Day gift ideas for my husband.  Choosing a gift for him is easy.  All he wants is FOOD.  The man loves to eat!  So for Father's Day, I'm giving him five big, delicious, juicy burgers.  Here they are!

1.  Bourbon Burger

2.  (Copycat} In-N-Out Burger

3.  Bacon Onion Cheddar Burger

4.  Texican Burger

5.  BBQ Bacon Sliders with Blue Cheese and Crispy Onions

Oh, one more thing.  I don't cook.  I can...I just don't want to.

This blog post is my Father's Day gift to my husband.  I hope you enjoy the pictures, honey.  I slaved for hours over Pinterest to find them...just for you!

Happy Father's Day!

Let's Pretend It's June 1st...

I promised myself that I would get back to regular blogging on June 1st.  Ummm....I'm running a little late :/   I had a plan.  Really, I did.  Then life got in the way.  Specifically, the cute 10 year old (boy) roller coaster that runs my life.  More about that later.  For now, let's just sit on the porch and catch up, OK?

Ahhh....porch sitting is so relaxing.  It's the perfect way to start the summer, don't ya think? (Remember, it's June 1st).  All of the beautiful porch pictures above came from bhg.com.  Hope you enjoyed them!

I have a few goals this summer and will be looking for advice on...
<< how to get ready for my (baby) teenager to start college
<< how to convince a teenage boy to let his mom decorate his dorm room
<< learning how to text message & use a laptop touchpad
<< solving my clothes hoarding problem
  .....and other things.

So I'll be back, bloggy friends, to chat and share with you soon.  Thanks for stopping by!

Cherish the Memories....Mother's Day

I'm a very sentimental person.  I save things that remind me of the people I love.  It can be a bottle, a piece of cloth, a vase, a pin, a lovely necklace or photographs.

Recently, I gathered a collection of black and white photographs of my mother and grandmothers to display on one of my kitchen shelves.  I call it my "Mothers Day shelf".

I'm so blessed to still have my mother in my life.  She lives behind me...only steps away.  She's always been there for me when I needed advice, needed a hug or to hold my babies when I couldn't be there.  So many memories.  Many more to come.

When I look at my Mother's Day shelf, I am reminded of many things.  My grandmothers.  The comfort of her voice, warm hugs, sound advice and long stories.  Oh, the stories.  I wish I had recordings of all of them so I could listen to them over and over.  Memories.....

The sound of a door closing
Pictures on a wall
Chenille bedspreads and handmade quilts
Cakes made "from scratch"
Rice pudding
Homemade biscuits with honey
Certain smells
Watching soap operas
Kitchens
Rocking chairs

The list is endless.  The memories are priceless.  I cherish every one of them.

Happy Mother's Day!
